A Russian soccer reporter learned a pretty miserable lesson about the pursuit of ‘perfect lighting’ when trying to get an on-field shot.

Evgeniy Evnevich is a reporter for Russia’s Match TV and was on the field ahead of a Russian Premier League match between perennial Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow and Akhmat Grozy. He positioned his cameraman in a spot that he thought would have the best lighting, then while the camera was rolling he got absolutely demolished by a sprinkler on live TV and completely soaked from head to toe.

Upon first glance, this might look like it was a viral stunt but I assure you it was anything but. After Evgeniy Evnevich got soaked by the sprinkler (below) he still had to report on the event and it looked pretty miserable to be him.

MatchTV shared the clip of Evgeniy getting wrecked by the sprinkler on their Twitter page. If you can’t see that clip embedded below you can click here to access the direct tweet.

Here’s the aftermath:

According to his caption, in Russian, those headphones that got destroyed were actually his engineer’s. Here’s what he had to say after the event:

Respect to the dryers @pfc_cska
Half an hour in the toilet – and I did not get sick. Although wet had to work at a press conference, and in the mixed zone, then still edit the plot
When I got home after 7 hours – the sneakers were still wet inside

Someone needs to get this man a raise for going the extra mile. He got soaked on live TV all in pursuit of the best possible footage for Match TV viewers. You won’t find American reporters grinding that hard. This man’s in it to win it.

Shout out For The Win
