At one point in his career, Ryan Kent looked like a future homegrown star for Liverpool Football Club. Kent, a winger, played for the English national team at multiple youth levels and was handed a first-team squad number at just 19 years of age.

Fast forward 11 years and Kent never did make an official debut for his boyhood club. He’s moved across the world and played for six different clubs across several different levels. Most recently, Kent was linked to a transfer to Iranian club Persepolis due to Iran’s laws which allowed him to keep a pet crocodile.

Kent is currently a free agent after being released by Turkish club Fenerbache. A report from AS Marca in Spain suggests he’ll join the Iranian club only after being made aware of the laws on crocodiles.

But wait, there’s more!

Kent allegedly owns multiple pet crocodiles and has more or less been running a zoo out of his apartment according to former teammate James Tavernier. Kent reportedly caused issues in Turkey in 2023 when he put out an ad looking for someone to take care of his pet crocs.

Reports suggest he offered “a four-figure salary and health insurance as part of the perks for whoever accepts the job of helping feed his croc.”

For those wondering if Kent could just return to the lower leagues of English soccer, yes, it is a possibility. You may own a crocodile in England, but you need a license from the government. There’s also no indication on whether Kent has interest from English clubs. But one thing is clear, the man is serious about his reptiles.
