Liverpool Football Club has had quite an eventful six months, to say the least.
Last spring, after seeing a Premier League title challenge peter out in April, the club said goodbye to their legendary German manager Jurgen Klopp, who helped deliver the team’s first Premier League title in 30 years, in addition to a Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, a Club World Cup, and UEFA Supercup.
Then, after Klopp departed, they hired Dutch manager Arne Slot, who has been a revelation thus far as Liverpool sit in first place in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Now, just when things are supposed to be calming down for an international break, Liverpool again find themselves in the midst of Premier League drama as an explosive video of league official David Coote smack-talking the club, the city, and Klopp hit the internet.
“Liverpool were s—,” Coote said of their performance in a match of theirs he officiated before sharing his feelings on Klopp. “[He’s a] c—. Absolute c—. Aside from having a right pop at me when I reffed them against Burnley in lockdown, then he accused me of lying and then had a right f—— pop at me.
“I’ve got no interest in talking to someone who’s just f—— arrogant. I do my best not to speak to him. [Former team co-captain James] Milner’s alright,” Coote continued. “You can see me there with mask on, covid…social distancing. We’re 10m apart. So yeah, my god. German c—, f— me… Just to be clear, that f—— last video can’t go anywhere. Seriously.”
Then the man recording the video adds, “Long story short, Jurgen Klopp’s a c—, Liverpool are all f—— bellends, and we hate Scousers [people from Liverpool].”

Following the release of the video, the PGMOL — the governing body of the Premier League’s refs — immediately suspended Coote, who just officiated Liverpool’s November 9 win over Aston Villa (and also failed to give a blatant red card for a foul on Mohammed Salah).
“David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”
Liverpool fans (even general soccer fans), meanwhile, began combing through the archives to find instances in which they believe Coote screwed the team with bad calls, a fair few of which have been seismic calls against Liverpool over the years.

Neither Liverpool, Klopp, Coote, nor the PGMOL have released any additional statements about the incident at this time.
