In honor of World Mental Health Day, English Football League (the Championship) side Norwich City Football Club shared a remarkable yet devastating suicide awareness video on their social media accounts.
The video — which is captioned “At times, it can be obvious when someone is struggling to cope, but sometimes the signs are harder to spot” — is a montage of two middle-aged friends going to Norwich City matches together.
Rather than continuing to describe it to you, you can watch the video below:

In the video, while one of the two friends is clearly the more outwardly jovial of the pair, that serves as the message of the piece as he is ultimately the one who was struggling with suicidal thoughts.
It’s not only an extremely important message but extremely well-executed by Norwich City — a club that frequently makes its way up to the Premier League — as evidenced by the way in which it’s gone viral since being posted in the early hours of October 10. At the time of this writing, the post has over 60,000 likes on Twitter.
If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, the 988 Lifeline, according to their website, “provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.”
If you are in the United Kingdom, where Norwich City is based, the Samaritans helpline can be reached by dialing 116 123. They are also available 24/7, 365 days a year.
